My blog is called "Creative Smiles" because my designs are the result of incorporating mistakes. With fumble fingers that drop whatever they are holding - repeatedly, it takes a lot of giggles, smiles and creative patience during my crafting process. xx

Butterflies and Parasols

A very warm 'hello' to you, lovely blogging friends!
Today I'm sharing a little Dies R Us Inspiration!

Today's technique is:

"make it simple or doll-it-up"

(using the same featured dies in both simple and elaborate designs)

The featured dies:

The following Dies R Us Products are being used:

Memory Box Calla Oval Wreath 99449
Memory Box Delia Butterfly 98353 (body) (card 2)
Memory Box Lydia Butterfly 99089 (card 2)
Memory Box Sorona Butterfly 99091 (card 2)
Tattered Lace Curved Parasol
Crafters Companion Die'sire Butterfly Dreams (card 2)

I was pleasantly surprised the Calla Oval Wreath and Delicate Flower Frame not only CUT easily, but popped out of the dies! What a breeze!
They may be used separately, or together.

The Delicate Flower Frame (Size A2 U.S.) is shown as a background.
The pink card is simple with 3 dies filling its space. It measures 4" x 6".

The Calla Oval Wreath has been inked and brushed with a little glitter, then popped up,
to showcase the Tattered Lace Curved Parasol.
The Parasol is also popped up:

The Stampin' Up! Sentiment is heat embossed with SNS Raspberry Sherbet Cosmic Powder:

The second card is larger (6" x 6"), with a few extra frills:

Pop up the Wreath with dimensionals - ink it up if desired - glitter it up, too!
Pretty Pearlized Vellum supports the butterfly:

The butterflies are gorgeous:

Impression Obsessions darling little Spiral Flowers are enchanting!
Believe it or not, these are Mitra's LARGE size, so beware if buying on-line not to get the smaller version. I cannot imagine how tiny those must be.
Here is a photo with a ruler so you can see how they look once rolled:

Flower Close-up:

I picked up FOUR of Die'Sire's Edge-ables. Wish I had known about them sooner! They are VERY easy to use, and cut with a single pass. They may be used in a number of ways, and are designed to be edges which do not completely cut out the entire image.
Here are some sample cards and some of the other dies in this line.

And here is a photo of the die, and how it cuts:

Thanks for popping by today!

Wow, these are so beautiful! What did you use to make the roses? Is it vellum? They look so pretty, almost like they are fabric! I love them. Wishing for more dies now of course! LOL

Wowie! Intricate, frilly, feminine, glittery goodness! I sure love that pretty parasol and thanks for showing the Die'sire die. Love how it cuts so you can raise the inner wings. Such gorgeous floral ribbon, too. I had some of mine out yesterday and then didn't use it as it just didn't work for my card. Sometimes I have to start with the ribbon and design the card around it. Your cards are always a joy and it looks like you have such a good time creating them!

How gorgeous, Donna! :)

Donna, both of your cards are drop dead gorgeous! I love the glitter on the oval and parasol on the pink card, and your embossing is impeccable! The purple card steals the show for me--maybe it's because I LOVE purple! Or just maybe it's that stunning sparkly butterfly that just takes my breath away! Oh, those pearls and those delicate flowers and that tiny rose...all so mouth watering! Gorgeous! Hugs!

Both of these are just so gorgeous, Donna! I love the "simple" one which looks much more complex than it is - one of my favorite things to create. :-D The second one is exquisite! Love the butterfly and the rose you added to it. Elegant touch. The sparkle on each one is magnificent. Love, love, LOVE these!

I love these, Donna, they're gorgeous, so exceptionally detailed and glittered up and I love that you made them monochromatic, as the designs don't feel fussy and cluttered even though there are lots of different things on here. I struggle making heavily decorated cards myself and I do appreciate visiting your blog for inspiration. Keep up the good work!

Beautiful use of these wonderful new dies. Love the layering and the coloring, and the design created using the combination of the dies. Those roses are fantastic, so thanks for the tip about the sizes. The dimension of the fluttering butterfly border is splendid and gosh, the pearlized vellum looks so shimmery behind the glittered butterfly. Marvelous look for each card, well done! Also love the brilliant color of the Bird of Paradise in the summer header! So tropical...TFS & Hugs. (also thanks for the blogger https info).
